O'Connor Weber Files Amicus Brief in Oregon Supreme Court in Verduzco v. State

O’Connor Weber LLP has filed an amicus curiae brief with the Oregon Supreme Court in Jose Antonio Gonzalez Verduzco v. State of Oregon, S062339, scheduled for oral argument on March 12, 2015. The question before the court is whether Mr. Verduzco's petition for post-conviction relief was timely filed because it is based on the new constitutional rule announced in Padilla v. Kentucky, 559 US 356, 130 S Ct 1473, 176 L Ed 2d 284 (2010). O’Connor Weber LLP offered briefing on the proper interpretation of the post-conviction relief statutes that allow for a late filing in certain circumstances.

A copy of O'Connor Weber's amicus brief is attached to this posting.

The oral argument will be held at the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Oregon.
